RooSense has worked with world experts in sweat physiology and material development to design an integrated fabric sensor to provide athletes with a personalized hydration plan. The fabric sensor can be easily integrated into gear and clothing already worn by today's athletes, as demonstrated in the above images of armband model. The accompanying app will analyse sweat data collected by the fabric sensor, and provide personalized, real-time recommendations on when to drink, what to drink, and how much to drink. With a RooSense sweat monitor, athletes will not only avoid hydration related injury and illness, but maintain optimal hydration levels resulting in improved performance.
Can't I just drink water on a regular schedule?
Theoretically, yes, but in reality, it's not that simple. Your body's hydration levels are impacted drastically by things like diet, weather conditions, and human physiological cycles which all change on a daily basis if not more so. The level of hydration you body needs is unique to you and is based on a number of factors. Even athletes who have sent sweat samples to highly technical(and expensive) labs for hydration plan recommendations will have different variables affecting their hydration on the day of the race. So having a timer that reminds you to drink a predetermined amount from your water bottle every 20 minutes isn't really helping you attain optimal hydration. In fact, there have been several cases where athletes have over-hydrated themselves, resulting is dangerously low levels of sodium in the blood(hyponatremia) thanks to all the dilution and in rare cases, death. So it's dangerous to drink too little, but dangerous to drink too much.
RooSense has the solution
RooSense has developed technology that can analyse a user's sweat at a molecular level, and in real time, provide accurate recommendations on how much water or other hydrating material should be consumed to return the body back to optimal hydration levels. The fabric sensor reacts with sodium ions in sweat, allowing for us to determine electrolyte imbalance. This is also the only sweat sensor that is able to provide real-time information using selective determination of sodium ion levels. And since its a fabric material, you don't have to worry about plastic or adhesive patches irritating your skin as you exercise. Proper hydration doesn't have to be a challenge. Let RooSense help you sweat smarter.
